Sail across Santorini’s beautiful Caldera and visit the islands of Nea Kammeni and Therasia on this 6-hour cruise. Board a sightseeing boat at the old port and admire Santorini’s cliffs as you cruise to Nea Kammeni. Enjoy free time to walk around its volcanic crater, swim in the warm springs and visit Therasia island. Explore and have lunch there at leisure before cruising back to Santorini. Then explore Oia village and experience a unique sunset!
The excursion starts from the main port of Santorini, Athinios. The bus will pick you up from the nearest pick up point close to your location. Next, you will head to Athinios port where one of our guides will guide you in one of our boats. The tour starts at 10:15 in the morning.
Our first destination will be the famous volcano of Santorini! After sailing for 20 minutes, we will reach Nea Kammeni’s jetty. Should you be interested to be guided at the volcano, you have to pay 5 euro per person as an entrance fee. Then, you will walk to the volcano’s ridge with your guide who is going to explain to you everything about the history and the geology of the volcano. You will stay at the volcanic island for 1.5 hour and after that you will embark again for the next stop.
Our next stop will be the island of Palaia Kammeni, where the famous hot springs are located on the west side, a place that is really popular for its thermal waters. We will stop there for 30 minutes, at a distance of 30 meters from the shallow waters of Agios Nicholaos Beach. Take a dive off the boat and feel the warmth of these extraordinary waters. The waters are also full of sulfur, iron, and other metals coming from the volcano and they are very good for the skin, rheumatism, arthritis, and other physical pains. Important Note: In order to reach Agios Nicholaos Beach, it is essential to swim extremely well.
Next stop is the island of Therasia. Therasia is a miniature of what Santorini used to be several years ago. Today it is a virgin island, still untouched by tourism and modern life style. The island of Therasia is only 9 sq. km in size and has approximately 300 permanent inhabitants. We will stay there for 2 hours, so as to explore this picturesque and traditional village as well as to taste the authentic Santorinian cuisine. Should you wish so, you can also walk around the main village of Manolas, which is the capital of Therasia. The view of Santorini is spectacular from there.
After Therasia island, you will go back to Athinios port where our bus will take you to Oia, the most beautiful village of Santorini. There you will have the chance to explore unique alleys, discover its rich market as well as enjoy fantastic views and the most breathtaking sunset of your life! After the sunset, you should head for the spot that our buses will be waiting to take you back to your places.
Definitely a must when visiting Santorini, and even better if you get Spyros as a guide , thank you for the recipe on how to make traditional authentic tzatziki ., A great experience!
We had a lovely day on the boat. Spiros was an excellent guide, we were lucky with the weather (mostly!), the trip up the caldera was interesting, the swim to the thermal springs exhilarating, take a noodle if offered the initial cold can catch your breath and the water can be a bit choppy, I shared my friend's on the way back, you might not think the thermal area is very warm, until you have to swim back to the boat!! I was glad of my water shoes in the shallows too! Thirasia was a welcome lunch stop, thoroughly recommend Tonys cafe especially if you are a bit cold you can sit in their little back enclosed area which is away from the wind and fab mugs of coffee and gyros. The bus trip to Oia was good but our driver planned on us leaving before the sunset! In the end we went back to the minibus a bit early anyway as there was no sunset due to cloud that night. This trip made our stay on Santorini I fully recommend it. 😊
A great experience! Really good value x
We set sail from the new Port of Fira and visited the Caldera, Hot Springs and the Island of Therasia. The guide was good, informative and the tour was well executed. It was a great experience to have joined this cruise, which was not your usual yacht. We had a wonderful day. A truly memorable experience.
