Departure point Old Port of Fira
Departure time11:00 AM or 14:30

The tour departs daily from the old port of Fira, at 11:00 in the morning or at 14:15. After only 15 minutes by boat, we'll be arriving at the volcano bay, where we'll be docking for about 1 hour and 30 minutes, during which, if you want, you can follow the path to the top where the active craters are. Next, we'll be moving to the island of Palaia Kammeni for the hot springs, the famous mud baths, which were formed as result of a series of volcanic eruptions. In the small bay of Agios Nikolaos the water temperature ranges from 30 to 35 degrees Celsius, as it mixes continuously with the normal sea currents. The boat will be staying there for about 30 minutes to allow you a healthy bath. After the bath, you will return to the old port of Fira.

Departure

The excursion starts from the picturesque Old Port of Santorini. This port is only accessible by cable car, which is the most common way as it takes only 3 minutes to go down, or you have to descend 587 steps on foot.
Important note: You have to pay 6€ more per way for the cable car ticket.
Gialos, the Old Port, lies below Fira, nestled at the foot of a rocky cliff. You will be surprised with the steep slopes of the Caldera and, finally, the tiny port will appear under these huge rocks and the cave houses that seem to dangle on the cliff. There, the guides of your excursion will be waiting for you, to give you all the important information and to orientate you on the boat. For more information or clarifications, don’t hesitate to visit our travel agency which is located down at the port.

Volcano

Our first destination will be the famous volcano of Santorini! After sailing for 20 minutes, we will reach Nea Kammeni’s jetty. Should you be interested to be guided at the volcano, you have to pay 5 euro per person as an entrance fee. Then, you will walk to the volcano’s ridge with your guide who is going to explain to you everything about the history and the geology of the volcano. You will stay at the volcanic island for 1.5 hour and, after that, you will embark again for the next stop.

Hot Springs

Our next stop will be the island of Palaia Kammeni, where the famous hot springs are located on the west side, a place that is really popular for its thermal waters. We will stop there for 30 minutes at a distance of 30 meters from the shallow waters of Agios Nicholaos Beach. Take a dive off the boat and feel the warmth of these extraordinary waters. The waters are also full of sulfur, iron, and other metals coming from the volcano and they are very good for the skin, rheumatism, arthritis, and other physical pains.
Important Note: In order to reach Agios Nicholaos Beach, it is essential to swim extremely well.

Return

After departing from your last destination, the tour will finish at the Old Port of Fira. After your disembarkation, you should choose one of the aforementioned available ways to go back to Fira town.

A great way to see the best of Santorini

This trip had everything from walking down the 600 steps to the old port to climbing up an active volcano to diving off the boat to swimming in the hot springs. Well, the springs weren’t exactly hot but everything else about the trip was. Considering how expensive Santorini is district represented very good value. The views of the island from the boat was stunning and three hours the trip was just the right length. Considering the chaotic nature of the port everything was pretty well organised. Definitely worth doing even if you’re only on Santorini for a couple of days.

Hot springs : down 1 star

Great experience, but disappointed by the hot springs. We didn’t know we had to jump FROM the boat (a ladder was available) then swim to the coast to find hot springs. Not mentioned In the description.
