A great experience!, Well organized!, Wonderful experience!, Our guide was awesome!, A must do.
Thank you very much for the nice words you wrote for me you were a wonderful family and I had the best day with you
Our tour was more than what we expected, it was absolutely beautiful, every single detail was perfect and the places cover were amazing and breath taking. We loved it every second!!!
I made a group reservation for 19 people on our ship when we stopped there Nov 8. I wanted an all-day tour, 7 hours, ending at sunset. The cost per person for the tour depended on the number of people in our group. The bus held 20 people, and the cost per person was right at $50. Ship's tours for only 4 hours were costing twice as much. My questions about such things as hours of operation for the Gondolas and other logistical questions during the months leading up to the cruise were answered promptly. If you are visiting Santorini from a cruise ship, you will be tendered in at Skala port, then you must ascend to Fira above. Once you are at the top, it was a 5 minute walk to the pickup point, along the edge of the caldera. Because we had time to kill, we stopped at a little outdoor restaurant for coffee, with a stunning view below. We were met at the pickup point by the owner of Marinakis Tours, Nikolas Marinakis, who would be our tour guide for the next 7 hours. After making some last-minute adjustments to our itinerary (at my request), we were on our way. "Nick the Greek" entertained us with facts, trivia about Santorini, as he showed us the beautiful sights. We visited the highest point on the island, Red Beach, then Black Beach, with plenty of commentary regarding geological makeup of the cliffs, sand, etc. We were unable to visit the Akrotiri site, as it was closed that day. There were other normal tour stops that were closed for the season, so we bypassed them for other points of interest. We visited Firastefani, Imerovigli, and a quick lunch at a street gyro stand. We stopped at Santos wines, a winery with a beautiful view of the island. I had requested that we finish the tour in Oia, for sunset, so we headed that way late afternoon. Along the way, Nick had the driver stop at a small store, and emerged 10 minutes later carrying a sack with 2 bottles of wine, for our consumption. We viewed sunset from Oia Castle, arguably the best spot on the island for that activity, sipping wonderful Greek wine. Aftewrwards we were returned to the pickup point, and Nick made sure we all knew how to get back to the Gondola. I can't recommend this tour highly enough, if I ever return, Nick is my "goto guy"!
We had a poor experience with this tour. The group could hardly understand what the guide was saying on the microphone on the bus. We told her, but she didn't seem to care.
