Meet all the "must-see" locations on Santorini with your own driver-guide, and get useful local tips that will make your visit to the island the most unforgettable getaway!

If you are a tradition-lover and wish to "travel" yourself through history, this tour is the best choice for you! It will be a magical "journey" in old times and the simple way of life!

Let us meet you at your hotel with our spacious luxury minivan and start our touring experience together (starting time at 10:00 a.m. or 15:30) from the quiet Pyrgos village. Pyrgos is the highest village on the island, located just 8 kilometers away from Fira town, and hosts one of the oldest castles, built in the 15th century by the Venetians, who settled on the island. Its privileged position provides the best views of the whole island, the green valleys, the sparkling Aegean Sea, and generally, a different perspective of the other villages. You can stroll through the village and follow the narrow paved streets which lead to old churches and white-washed houses, built under the Cycladic architecture. Small cafes and restaurants complete this traditional setting which you will absolutely adore!

Next follows a visit to the most important historical site in the Aegean, the Prehistoric city of Akrotiri. It’s the oldest settlement on the island, which dates back to 4500 BC, and one of the greatest discoveries of the latest years. The eruption of the Volcano buried the city, but also preserved it under the ash and nowadays visitors can wander through the ruins, see all the amazing findings, and get all the useful information about this important historical discovery. Learn how people used to live, their habits, their working status, and generally how they built a very prosperous city.

This informative experience will finish at the traditional Megalochori village, also one of the oldest villages on the island dating back to the 17th century. Old cave houses, neoclassical houses with big wooden doors, churches, and chapels with big belfries, and all these found if you walk through the small stone-paved paths. Your chance to explore this beautiful village, pass by its squares, and meet its kind-hearted people! It will offer you peace and the most stunning images, that will stay in your mind forever!

An exciting touring day awaits you and your friends, on this Private Bus tour! Book yours and let’s explore the island together!

Interesting mix of history and wine

I had not fully appreciated the degree of history this tour would encompass. Perhaps I had not looked beyond the word ‘winery’ that turned out to be an excellent lunch stop at the Vassaltis Vineyard with the very knowledgable and personable Maria. I had not appreciated that this tour would include a visit to Santorini’s very own Pompeii and the on going excavations of what was a Bronze Age sophisticated town. There were additional stops at the coast and to see existing hill top towns and settlements. Some walking is required so sensible shoes are a must - along with a good sense of humour. Our driver and guide Zac provided much warmth, wit and local knowledge. He was also a safe and considerate driver. Definitely a highly recommended day trip. , A great experience!, Well organized!, Our guide was awesome!
