Santorini Through History & Wine Private Bus Tour

Join a 7-hour multifaceted bus tour and jump at the chance to become acquainted with Santorini’s true essence.

Your guide, who is a Greek archaeologist and an expertise sommelier, will thoroughly enlighten you about the island’s remarkable history and its long winemaking tradition as well. On the way you will also have the opportunity to relish the magnificent landscape of Santorini and the spectacular beauty of the quaint settlements you’ll visit. Transfers to and from the meeting points are included in the price.

First stop is at the prominent Akrotiri village where you’ll visit one of the most important archaeological sites, not only on the island but also in the whole Aegean. Excavations have brought to light a prosperous prehistoric city that had been buried under the volcanic ashes for centuries. During the 1-hour tour you will walk through this well-preserved city, be impressed by its edifices and learn all the impressive facts about it along with your professional tour guide.

After that, you will have a wine tasting experience full of tastes and aromas at three of the most outstanding wineries of the island. At the traditional Megalochori village you’ll visit the first modern winery of Santorini, Boutari Winery, where you can taste five different wines not only from Santorini, but from all over the world. At the same village lies Gavalas Winery where you can take a tour around its cellars and admire its 17th century Russian oak barrels. Next, at Episkopi Gonia village, you’ll try five different wines at a state-of-the-art winery, Estate Argyros. All in all, you will take pleasure in 12 wine varieties of the volcanic island, including the famed Assyrtiko, Vinsanto and Nykteri.

Those who want to take a cooking lesson and have a small introduction to the Greek cuisine can choose the 8-hour tour which includes a visit to Artemis Karamolegos Winery, a modern winery located in Exo Gonia village that offers striking views. Finally, those who wish to spend less time on a tour and are only interested in the wine tasting experience can take a 4-hour tour to Boutari, Gavalas and Estate Argyros wineries and enjoy the different wine varieties accompanied by delectable side dishes.

A bit rushing but good way of sightseeing without renting car

A bit of a rush from one area to another. A bit difficult to catch what the guide was saying due to accent. guided tour included for akoritiri site but got boring after a while. Restaurant at black beach was good. Rushing to get to good spot for sunset in Oia as sunset in October is much earlier compared to summer time. It is a good way to see santorini without renting a car.
