About
Located in Fira, Santorini’s capital, Dimael Mansion is a neoclassical property that was used as the main residence of the island’s doctor back in the 19th century.
The renovation took place in 2017, but as a way to maintain some of the traditionality of this local architectural treasure, the exterior was not changed. The 50cm walls were made, for the most part, from the famous black lava and ash from the volcano. Inside, there can be found vaulted ceilings and marble facades.
The orientation of preserving this unique mansion led to minor but subtle interventions in order to maintain and expand the aristocratic aesthetic, with a modern touch. It should be mentioned that the online architecture magazine, archiseach.gr, published and devoted a relevant article about that. Another interesting fact is that since 1878 all-female owners share the name, Maria.

Fira is the beautiful capital of the island and the biggest and most cosmopolitan settlement of Santorini. It is located in the western edge of the island, opposite the volcano.
Fira is a combination of natural beauty, social life, nightlife, and shopping, where you can feel the liveliness of the island and where all the action takes place. There is a wealth of restaurants, cafés, bars, and clubs where you can relax and enjoy the tremendous view or dance and have fun. It actually owns the greatest dining out and entertainment selection of the island and the largest shopping center, too. Moreover, there are many clothes shops, gift shops, souvenir shops, supermarkets and other facilities for every need.

The room is located really centrally and had everything we needed. Spacious, plenty of sleeping area, and a nice outdoor courtyard. The place is like an Air BnB, in that there is no front desk, on-site reception, etc., but that wasn't a problem for us. However, the rooftop jacuzzi wasn't working. I then checked other reviews from the past few years and everyone said the same thing. So beware: If you want a rooftop jacuzzi you will not have hot water for it! The management company was responsive to our issues at first (how to work the AC, etc.) but was cagey when I asked about the jacuzzi. They acted as if it should be working and that they would look into it, but nothing ever happened and they eventually just stopped responding to my requests. So not very professional or forthcoming on that point. Overall, decent value for money, but just know that you're not going to get great service.
TLTR: Filthy, unprofessional, over-priced. SEE FOTOS! In Detail: The good thing: the room is stylish and nice. The bad things: - The whirl-pool area is filthy! Mould on the bedding / sitting furniture and matresses. The whirl-pool itself is of course exposed to dust and the elements, but it needs some DEEP CLEANING. The whole area does, the furniture cannot be salvaged at this point. - The whirl-pool is freezing, if you are expecting a nice warm temperature or even hot water, you are in the wrong place. The water temperature measured with a thermometer (which yes we borrowed from friends just to prove a point) was at 21-22 degrees tops. - Lila was informed about the water temperature and the filthiness of the pool and pool area and not once appologized or showed understanding. Upon sending her pictures of the BLACK MOULD, she responded with that there is nothing to do and was very unprofessional and apathetic about the whole thing. - the reason we booked this space is the whirl-pool, which we ended up not using, because of the condition. Otherwise there is NO WAY to explain the high price on this booking. Many hotels and Airbnbs around with MUCH lower prices and similar / better location!
Wonderful place at the center of Fyra. You can find everything you need on foot. Also, this is generally the optimal location to rent accommodation in Santorini, since the distances are short. The place is clean, luxurious and offers an excellent view of the sea. The hosts are friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend.
Had the best time staying at this picturesque, centrally located, dream of a home. The service was above and beyond and the views + amenities cannot be beaten.
