For those wishing to combine peacefulness and entertainment Firostefani is the ideal destination, due to its proximity to the capital of Santorini, Fira. Firostefani is actually an extension of Fira. Its gifted location on the caldera, on the north part of the island, makes it a remarkable site.
There are some white-blue churches dispersed among the beautiful, typical houses that will grab your attention. In this traditional village, there are few cozy restaurants and cafés located on marvelous spots which will make you feel welcome. Some shops and mini markets also exist to provide you with the necessary stuff, most of them concentrated on the main shopping street.
The big advantage of Firostefani, as mentioned earlier, is its proximity to the capital of Santorini; only a step away from the crowded and lively Fira. As a result, it forms the perfect equation. You can combine serenity and relaxation with a vivid nightlife.

This hotel has some things going for it, mainly the spectacular views over the caldera. But I suspect the 5 star reviews are from guests who stayed in the rooms by the pool or just above it. We were walked up over 100 stairs away from the main hotel, down the street then up some different stairs, and there we were shown our room. It was outdated and not like the beautiful modern, light-filled ones shown on the website. They have 3 completely separate rooms away from the main hotel (rooms 111 - 113), which don't have their own outdoor space, you share a long balcony with the other 2 rooms, and the view from there is partially blocked by the roofs below. The bathroom was dingy and there was a tiny shower with a plastic curtain which stuck to you as you showered. The air conditioning sounded like a jet engine about to take off. Every time you wanted to go to the pool or reception, or to breakfast, you had to climb down the hundreds of stairs and back up again, so being poolside was not a particularly relaxing experience. The pool is very small and there are only 4 sunbeds so you are lucky if you get one. This hotel was booked as part of a package so am not too sure of price per night but if the Internet is to be believed, it was way way overpriced at over €300 per night. On the plus side, the staff are just wonderful, especially Angelina and Pilot who never stop smiling and help you with everything so graciously. Breakfast is fine, some basic options which you select from a checklist, but you can have as much as you want. Could be better for a 4 star hotel. The small town the hotel is in is quite nice with a few restaurants and it's about 15 minutes walk to the start of the main town Thira. Take comfortable shoes, it's very cobbled. We felt a bit swindled and advise other guests to check which room they'll be in before booking.
We stayed there last.month, they had just opened for the season. We loved our stay there! From the accommodation, to the view of course, and the staff were all super friendly, and available whenever we needed them! They carried our heavy bags down the flights of stairs and back up! Breakfast was delicious. They even called and set up our taxi for our departure the next day! I highly recommend this place!
We were given the most ugly room, which spoiled the whole experience - sorry, it's like how I felt. Not the "cave style", but a cellar compared to other rooms with more light and the instant spectacular views. Bumped my head maybe 7 times in 2 days in front door :)) On the other side, management agreed to make a switch for another room. The second was a little nicer but not a big win as we had only 1 night left, we let it be like it is. Late check in was granted - thumb up for this! The staff guy called Pilot was very friendly, very pro-customer oriented, helped with every single request. Overall, 1 star down because of some minor things. - confusing title photo. This has nothing to do with the suites. - breakfast is too simple, no vegetables at all :(, but staff will try they best upon request. - little bit overpriced in comparison price/value with other suites around. Location is great though, only 136 stairs :) from crowded street to quiet oasis.
What we like: very nice view, not crowded, cleanliness, awesome staffs What we feel that need improvement: breakfast, our room AC die but staff resolved immediately by moving us to different room, hard to find (perhaps provide instructions in the information section) All in all is good hotel to stay
