Located close to the center of the village, the property offers magnificent views of the Caldera and Volcano. The relaxing yet exciting atmosphere is to die for.
The beauty of Oia is matchless. It is undoubtedly the best place to watch the sunset in Santorini. You can never get tired of watching Palaia and Nea Kameni islets glistening in the clear blue waters as the sun dips into the Aegean Sea. Oia also has the famous Ammoudi port, where you can enjoy freshly cooked seafood.
Restaurants, cafes, bakeries, and wine houses serving delicious food and beverages are scattered throughout the village. There are also plenty of shops to buy stylish clothes, authentic artifacts, and souvenirs from.

Since this is my first time coming to Santorini, we expected a clean place to enjoy and stay. However, everything is just terrible. First, there is only hot water for 6 minutes; after that, all we get is cold water. WiFi is not stable as well. Second, after speaking to the villa manager, who had an awful attitude and would take forever to respond to requests by the way, she offered us a new room, which also had a suite of its own problems. The new room’s hot water also cut in and out. Thirdly, housekeeping, when we first entered the room, there was dust and hair on the floor, right next to the entrance. Even when housekeeping came later, the dust and hair was still there. Every day's breakfast (fried egg and burned bacon) was cold. The experience in general was just terrible.
A horrendous review for a horrendous hotel. Where do I begin. Let me preface by saying that you mustn’t expect a hotel-like experience from Amaya Selection of Villas; it is a glorified airbnb at best. Be warned that hot water lasts a few minutes on a good day, the bedsheets are stained, wifi coverage does not extend to the bedroom, bathroom, or balcony, and the hot tub is not hot, nor is it clean. Breakfast came cold in the morning - we tried to feed the scraps to the stray cats but they wouldn’t have them either. Please also be wary of the host - she is rude, uncooperative, and might I say incompetent? If there is one good thing I’d like to say about Amaya it is that the view is quite the spectacle - perfect for a little Billie Holiday and a glass of wine… this for the sake of ending my review on a good note. So if you’re looking for a view and a mattress for 200-300 euros a night, Amaya’s the selection of villas for you.
Since my one week stay in Oia with Amaya, I have been debating what my review would be. Here is where I weight out: 1. I would NOT stay at this brand / group again 2. It might be a risk if you manage to get 50% off the price as I did. But I would have been angry to have paid more 3. With the exception of the property manager, the onsite staff tried hard within the confines of what they had 4. At one point, these cave villas were probably as good as they could get. But with so much modernization, there are just too many better properties than these dated villas 5. The location is absolutely stunning. Getting the chance to stay in a MODERN white cave villa is like a bucket list item. So, here is the deal. I chose a week, in January – the VERY off season, because I wanted quiet and to return to Santorini. A big travel company offered this place at a very big discount. I jumped at the chance. What I experience, was a villa that was in a stunning location. And with a very stunning view. But the management of the villa. And the modernization of the villa is just not good enough anymore. WHAT I DID NOT LIKE: - The good news about booking in January is that 97% of the tourists have gone away. You really have the area to yourself. But – the flipside is that during this low season, there is a ton of renovation happening. In the day, when you want quiet and sunshine, you are getting drilling sounds. Hammering sounds. And a lot of local workers making improvements. You won’t get this in mid to high season – but this was not enjoyable. - The manager just was not professional. It began when a note was sent out, encouraging you to make a reservation with them for the transport from the airport. Ok. It sounded like a good idea. She promised a “reliable and very professional” service. For a price that I would learn is about double the price of others who will do the same on the island. I arrived to the airport. No sign. No transport. Everyone from the plane had left, and I was left. I eventually was able to reach her via text. She said a mistake had happened. Twenty minutes later, a driver showed up. They said they had never been contacted. And so – this manager and her decisions were very unreliable. - Power went out at the unit. I called, and they did dispatch someone. But the ended up saying the reason is that three of the units are on the same circuit breaker. And that if a person used a hair dryer (not me – perhaps in another unit), and the shower (water heater has to work) and a heater – then all three units were in trouble. And the whole breaker turns off. It is also the reason why each unit does not have a microwave, or any type of device to be used in preparing any simple meal. They are just old. Dated. - The jacuzzi was not working for the first three days. They finally fixed it But the items floating around in the jacuzzi was quite suspect. It was not clean. I don’t regret staying at the villa. It was quiet. I had a big discount in the rental price. But I would not come to this place in mid or high season. There are so many other places that are renovated and more modern. More organized. With better managers. I would recommend looking at those first – as I will do on a return visit.
Perfect place for the visitors to Oia, Santorini I had a wonderful time thanks to the kind manager and staff. They were so helpful and supportive for any request. Also this place was excellent if you want the best view in Oia. You don’t have to go searching for other places with a nice view. You’re having it right there. The room was clean&neat and the breakfast they’re providing was so good. I enjoyed my breakfast with breathtaking view! I’d definitely visit Amaya again if I got to have a chance to visit Oia again. *One tip : The location is different from the one shown on the Google map. So you’d better contact the manager on arranging your pick-up.
