Artemis Karamolegos Winery

This state-of-the-art winery lies in Exo Gonia village along with the beautiful Aroma Avlis Food & Wine Restaurant. The winery dates back to 1952 and the current owner, who inherited it from his grandfather, managed to make it a dynamic and successful winery in a few years’ time and one of the top in Greece. Throughout the years it has claimed many awards in various competitions for its excellent wines, and it takes part in major international exhibitions. 

A visit to the winery offers a complete wine-tasting experience in a lovely courtyard with a specialized enologist, who provides valuable information about each wine and insights into the winemaking process that visitors can witness from the beginning in a guided tour. You can try 11 different wines, that reflect the unique volcanic character of Santorini accompanied by delicious local specialties. You can start with the classics that are a must, like Nykteri and Vinsanto, and then proceed to some rare varieties, such as Aidani, Mavrotragano, and Pyritis, to name a few. In addition, cooking classes that give you the chance to get acquainted with traditional recipes, are organized in the yard. The winery is open all year round (February-November: 11:00-20:00, December-January: 11:00-17:00).

Aroma Avlis Food & Wine Restaurant is located right next to the winery and owns an adorable yard that boasts impressive panoramic views of the garden, the private vineyard, and the east coastline of Santorini. It is a beautiful location full of flowers, plants, trees, and aromas from herbs. The palatable dishes that are served there, are inspired by Greek and Mediterranean cuisine and the secret behind their great taste is the fresh local products taken from the owner’s field. The welcoming atmosphere, the nicely decorated indoor and outdoor spaces, and the stupendous surroundings of the restaurant make it an ideal place for events and wedding receptions. It is recommended that you visit both the winery and the restaurant to make your experience complete. Don’t forget to visit the wine shop to source your favorite wines and products.
