Nestled on the cliffs of Megalochori village, overlooking Athinios port, the main port of Santorini, this winery provides staggering views of the caldera, the Volcano, and the Aegean Sea. It has gained recognition for being the first industrial winery on the island, holding a rich family tradition in wine production within its renovated buildings, and stands out for its exemplary architectural structure and unique design.
Built on four different levels, it invites you to walk through its premises, with the guidance of the professional staff, and become acquainted with its very long tradition, the history of winemaking, as well as the new wine-making techniques. After the informative 20-minute tour of the winery, you can indulge in a wine-tasting experience, which takes place at the main hall terrace. This delightful experience offers guests the chance to try the exceptional Santorini wines, accompanied by some light snacks, such as cheese platters, salads, stuffed vine leaves, and tomato fritters, a signature specialty of Santorini!
The winery is open to the public daily from April 1st to November 14th, and from Monday to Saturday between November 15th and March 31st (with the exception of December 22nd to January 7th, when it is closed). The sunset terrace is open to guests daily from May 1st to October 15th, but is closed from October 16th to April 30th. Besides Santorini, Venetsanos Winery exports its wines to European countries, the USA, Canada, and other countries around the world. Of course, you can stop by the shop in the winery and purchase your favorite bottle of wine to take back home.
